Hospitality – Preview of an exhibition at the state parliament in Kiel
On Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 12:30 p.m., we will present the planned exhibition by the North German artists’ houses on the theme of hospitality at the scholarship institutions.
In the current economic situation, budget cuts are very prominent on the political agenda. Art and culture in particular are often the subject of these cuts. Yet at a time when borders are being re-erected and the unfamiliar is increasingly perceived as a threat, artists’ houses are more important than ever as places of international encounter.
In order to highlight the importance of artists’ houses in the cultural landscape, the Schleswig-Holstein Artists’ House, in coordination with the other artists’ houses of the NKN – Network of Artists’ Houses in Northern Germany, approached State Parliament President Kristina Herbst to present the scholarship institutions and their relevance in an exhibition at the State Parliament. Kristina Herbst welcomes the exhibition and members of her team are supporting the planning and preparation.
Matthias Herrmann presents the planned exhibition, the current state of preparations, and the next steps leading up to the exhibition’s opening. The exhibition, entitled
Die Welt zu Gast. Stipendienstätten im Norden als Orte der Kunst und Begegnung. Eine Ausstellung in der Reihe „Kulturland Schleswig-Holstein“ – (The World as Guest. Scholarship Institutions in the North as Places of Art and Encounter. An exhibition in the series “Kulturland Schleswig-Holstein”)
will open on October 15, 2025, and run until December 7, 2025.
