The Eckernf\u00f6rde branch of the Schleswig-Holstein University Society is hosting its lecture series at the Schleswig-Holstein Artists\u2019 House otte1.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, 20 May 2026 at 7.00 pm<\/strong>, Prof. Dr Wolfgang J. Duschl from the Institute of Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics at Kiel University<\/strong> will speak on a topic that is becoming increasingly important for us in the age of AI. His lecture, entitled \u2018Mr Heisenberg\u2019s Uncertain World\u2019, will explore the question of what quantum physics is all about.<\/p>\n Prof. Duschl comments on his lecture as follows: \u201cEinstein\u2019s theory of relativity is already quite far removed from what we can imagine based on our everyday experience. But that is nothing compared to quantum physics, which, like the theory of relativity, began to be researched around a century ago. It describes how the smallest particles, the so-called elementary particles, from which our entire world is composed, behave. For example, it is supposedly not possible to measure their position and velocity simultaneously with complete accuracy \u2013 yet our painful experience with speed measurements in road traffic seems to show the opposite. In this lecture, some of the claims of quantum physics that seem very strange at first glance will be presented and discussed. However, I will also show why it all makes sense, and above all, why our everyday experience is by no means at odds with it.\u201d<\/p>\n The lecture will take place at the Schleswig-Holstein Artists\u2019 House, Ottestra\u00dfe 1, 24340 Eckernf\u00f6rde<\/strong>.
