{"id":26497,"date":"2025-09-09T16:33:32","date_gmt":"2025-09-09T14:33:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.otte1.org\/?p=26497"},"modified":"2025-09-09T16:33:32","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T14:33:32","slug":"how-many-humans-can-the-earth-sustain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/otte1.staging.computerlie.be\/en\/news\/how-many-humans-can-the-earth-sustain\/","title":{"rendered":"How many humans can the Earth sustain?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Eckernf\u00f6rde branch of the Schleswig-Holstein University Society is hosting a series of lectures at the Schleswig-Holstein Artists&#8217; House otte1.<\/p>\n<p>On <strong>Wednesday, 17 September 2025, at 7 p.m., Prof. Dr. Volkmar Helbig from the Institute for Experimental and Applied Physics at Kiel University<\/strong> will give a lecture in german, entitled: <strong>Wieviel \u201eMensch\u201c vertr\u00e4gt die Erde? &#8211; How many humans can the Earth sustain?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Since 1972, when the Club of Rome published its report on \u2018The Limits to Growth\u2019, we have known that our planet&#8217;s resources are finite in all areas. This necessarily limits the number of people who can live on it. In his lecture, Professor Helbig will attempt to convey a sense of the order of magnitude of the number of people who can populate the Earth in the long term with sustainable economic activity by considering various aspects \u2013 energy, food, raw materials, environmental influences, etc.<\/p>\n<p>The lecture will take place at the <strong>K\u00fcnstlerhaus Schleswig-Holstein, Ottestra\u00dfe 1, 24340 Eckernf\u00f6rde<\/strong>.<br \/>\n<strong>Admission<\/strong>: Non-members \u20ac5.
