Over the past 18 years, scholarship holder Ikuru Kuwajima has travelled extensively from Asia to Europe, particularly to areas that were part of the Soviet Union. In his artist talk, Ikuru Kuwajima will present some of his earlier artistic works: They can be historical and geographical, as in his \u2018Trail\u2019 series about the Afghan-Tajik border, or they can be more introspective, as in \u2018I, Oblomov\u2019, which refers to a literary masterpiece. Or it can be a mixture of scientific and historical research that connects two remote places, as in \u2018Repatriation\u2019, which shows the path of driftwood travelling from the Gulag prison camps in Siberia to Iceland.<\/p>\n
