The Eckernf\u00f6rde section of the Schleswig-Holstein University Society is hosting its lecture series at the Schleswig-Holstein K\u00fcnstlerhaus otte1.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday 19 March 2025 from 19:00, Prof. Dr R\u00fcdiger Schulz<\/strong>, Botanical Institute and Botanical Garden of Kiel University, will give a lecture on \u2018Microalgae: Biomass, bioenergy, biofuels, CO2 sink – solutions for the future?<\/strong>\u2019<\/p>\n There is increasing discussion as to whether microalgae and cyanobacteria, with their high biomass production, the possibility of producing biogas, biodiesel, bioethanol and biohydrogen, the absorption of CO2 during photosynthesis and their valuable ingredients, could offer solutions to some of our pressing climate, environmental, energy, food and feed problems<\/strong>. In addition, microalgae are currently being tested to see whether they can be used on a large scale for water purification in sewage treatment plants, aquaculture facilities and biogas plants. The lecture will take place at the K\u00fcnstlerhaus Schleswig-Holstein<\/strong>, Ottestra\u00dfe 1, 24340 Eckernf\u00f6rde.
\nProf Dr R\u00fcdiger Schulz from the Botanical Institute of the Christiana Albertina will present and discuss these questions and interrelationships in his lecture in a generally understandable way and illustrate them with examples from current basic and applied research.<\/p>\n
