When Space Becomes Duration

On Saturday, 24 May at 12:30 pm, Juan Bermúdez will speak at the Künstlerhaus otte1 after the market on the issue of space and time.

Sound installations are a powerful medium to make time tangible and challenge our contemporary perceptions of it. By showcasing his own works alongside those of other artists, he will explore how treating sound as a spatial material can sharpen our temporal awareness. Speakers, objects, and architectural elements create spaces where time behaves heterogeneously—slowing, looping, or fragmenting according to its arrangement. Each work transforms its environment into a new type of asymmetric clock, approaching time as one would approach architecture.
