Red Cloud over the Eimer Lake.

On 24 August 2024, scholarship holder Sunčica Pasuljević Kandić led hikers to Lake Eimersee.

Accompanied by a group of hikers, Sunčica Pasuljević Kandić practised a series of body technologies such as breathing, listening and perception exercises linked to biomimicry and speculative thinking. The aim was to encourage communication and reconnection with nature and to encourage us to find new ways of listening, observing and engaging with the natural world around us.

Lake Eimersee and its surroundings are primarily known as an attractive habitat for animals and plants. The area has therefore become a popular destination for excursions. The hike ended at a place that has been marked by a spiral made of field stones since 2003. As heat islands, dry stone walls provide a habitat for reptiles, insects and specialised plant species. If these are set up in a spiral, a symbolism referring to primal forms of nature is added.

Sunčica Pasuljević Kandić planned the planting of a ‘Red Cloud’ apple tree for this location. Its trademark is its light to dark red flesh as well as its finely acidic and juicy flavour with an incomparable sugar-acid ratio.

The tree has been in the ground since last week. We at Künstlerhaus otte1 would like to thank Matthias Fock from the municipal gardens for his help with the planting.
