Olivia Kuderewski – Literature Fellow October to December 2023 at the Künstlerhaus
In the “Literature” focus area, the jury has decided to award the 2023 Literature Fellowship to Olivia Kuderewski. The fellowship residency will be October through December 2023.
Olivia Kuderewski, born in 1989, studied comparative literature in Augsburg and Seville and literary writing in Hildesheim. She lives in Berlin and works as a freelance nonfiction editor, among other things.
Her debut novel “Lux” was awarded the 2021 Harbour Front Literary Festival Debut Prize as the best German-language novel debut of the year and the Klaus Michael Kühne Prize.
Her second novel, “Haha Heartbreak,” was published in September 2022. She is currently working on her third novel, “Überintegriert.”
The theme of self-empowerment runs as a thread through Olivia Kuderewski’s writing. If in “Lux” it is the deconstruction of formative images of freedom and the USA, in “Haha Heartbreak” it is about female self-determination, a liberated sexuality and breaking free from toxic relationship structures. In “Überintegriert” she will try to trace this emancipatory movement in a family history.
