Day of Printmaking: Dirty Hands Production

Presentation “After the Market” on Saturday, 16 March at 12:30 h

On 15 March 2018, traditional printing techniques were added to the German UNESCO Commission’s nationwide list of intangible cultural heritage. This is why the Day of Printmaking always takes place on 15 March. On and around this date, artists, printing workshops, museums, universities, art associations and other organisations demonstrate how vibrant the art of printing is: from traditional techniques to experimental printing processes.

To mark the occasion, Schleswig-Holsteinisches Künstlerhaus – otte1 has invited Nastya Hurska, who assisted scholarship holder Kateryna Yermolaeva in planting the miracle apple on Eckernförde’s beach promenade in October 2022. Together with Mia Schabbach, her partner from Dirty Hands Production, the art printer shows how a linocut is produced and printed.

The two artists are specialists in the field of lino printing. They were recently commissioned by the Richard Haizmann Museum to print a series of woodcuts from its archives for the museum’s Friends’ Association.

At Dirty Hands Production, both are also involved in teaching art enthusiasts about various artistic printing techniques. Visitors to the presentation can register for this during the event.
