A Cattle in a Wooden Frame

On Saturday, 19 July 2025 at 12:30 pm, after the market, the focus will be on the relationship between frame and content.

Scholarship holder Alexandra Mitlyanskaya and Norbert Weber will explore this topic using two video works by the Russian artist from 2024.

In the first video, the view through a wooden gate looks like a frame. An opening provides a view of agricultural buildings on the horizon. Close behind the gate, a cattle grazes from left to right across the steppe. The lower edge of the ‘gate window’ is a line along which the action is orientated.

The second video shows the window in a darkened room. The sashes of the window frames are open. The viewer looks down on the Moskva River from above. Ships pass by from time to time. A room with (what) view?
